Oroz survives Flanders hammering

Juan José Oroz put his all-round ability and never-say-die attitude to good use at the Tour of Flanders on Sunday, managing to complete the race less than 15 minutes down on runaway victor Fabian Cancellara.

On a less positive note, though, the lanky 32-year-old was the only rider in orange to finish the Monument as the team's Classics squad took another hit with a sub-par performance. The new recruits, Ioannis Tamouridis, Alexandre Serebryakov, André Schulze et al. all posted DNFs yet again, leading DS Óscar Guerrero with a lot of work to do ahead of next Sunday's Paris-Roubaix.

Peio Bilbao, who's professed his love for the cobbled races, tried to infiltrate the break of the day but came up short, eventually deciding to quit the race as well.

Results (full results here):
  • (1, Fabian Cancellara (RadioShack), 6:06:01)
  • 91, Juan José Oroz, 13:35
